Queens/Long Island Counseling Services

As one of the FRMH centers, Queens/Long Island Counseling Services is based in the heart of Flushing, Queens. Established in 1975, local congregations, community organizations and senior residences partnered with us in an effort to provide various mental health services. QCS/LI has well established relationships with many non-profit organizations and other agencies within the community. These strong ties have permitted the organization to work closely with these partnering agencies over the years on various programs and events with the goal of increased outreach to those unable to previously access services. Our counseling sites are located in Queens and Long Island
.

The purpose of QCS is to help people cope with a variety of challenges in their life. Functioning as a pastoral counseling and mental health service agency, we offer marriage and family therapy as well as individual and group counseling. Group counseling is provided upon request. Some of our groups have addressed anger management, anxiety, bereavement, coping with stress, depression and parenting. We have also hosted groups on Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder and coping with the effects of September 11th. We also provide various other services to congregations and the public through workshops and participation in hosting health fairs.

The Long Island component developed as a Mental Health and Wellness outreach program composed of partnerships with Queens Counseling Services of FRMH and various local community organizations. Such partnerships permit Queens Counseling Services the opportunity to provide mental health services to the residents of Nassau County communities, where such resources are scarce. This program was successfully introduced in southwest Nassau communities in 2006. The continued success of the program combined with the increasing need in south Nassau communities has encouraged us to expand our program to the South Shore with offices in Malverne, Oceanside and Rockville Centre.

As an affiliate of the Foundation for Religion and Mental Health, we administer counseling services to clients of many diverse faiths. Religious content enters into the counseling process solely on the initiative of the client. There is no proselytizing.

Psychiatric referrals are available. We accept many major health insurance plans with an available sliding scale fee.
